The aim was to create innovative concept of a product that includes reindeer horn as material. The product has to be mass produced in small series and it must be functional (not an art work). As a result I introduced a standing horn working as a hanger and moving sculptural peace as an interior detail. Before the project we were introduced to local Finish craftsmen to get in touch with a traditional usage of reindeer horn as material.

From block of pine wood I came up with “Noja” -
Organic support for books. Every side of book support can be used for different support solutions and can be placed on the table or bookcase. You can flip or rotate, put books on top or side. You can even use it as a mini reading table.

An assignment was to produce the concept design ideas to improve daily walking routes for old age people in the city of Rovaniemi, and at the same time to create more user friendly environment.

We worked together with 2 Finnish guys Janne and Eiika. An organic reindeer horn was taken as an inspiration. As a result we designed public furniture system of benches, railings and shelter.

Furniture would help old people to have support and have resting places in icy, slippery daily routes. By choosing organic reindeer horn we tried to integrated nature and traditions of Lapland in the city of Rovaniemi. (6 semester 2008)

A doorbell concept “ Abloy live” for Finnish company “Abloy” Developed by a group “MAD” ( Moses LT, Alex NL, David ILR )

After the research “MAD” made lots of untraditional, innovative ideas. A few concepts have been taken for further development. For the final presentation we chose “Abloy Live” project. It’s a futuristic doorbell which is not hidden in the corner but in a full view as an art peace. An inviting doorbell for people to touch and communicate. We imagined the future doorbell as a living product with lots of interactive possibilities, aesthetics and visual communication

My final Bachelor project was Urban furniture for specific urban park area “Sereikiskes” in Vilnius. The park “Sereikiskes” has not been renovated since soviet times. Therefore green area conditions were not functioning well for public recreation and enjoyment. Especially park furniture such as benches were being damaged by vandals and not resistant to environment conditions any more. Hopefully municipality is planning to start renovation from beginning of 2010.

My aim was to deliver well functioning park furniture and offer playful environment. Weather condition and vandalism aspect has been considered as well. As a result I have chosen a concrete and natural wood as a main material. Challenge was to connect both materials. So I made ventilation holes in concrete part of furniture in order to allow wood to breathe, easily dry and prevent from keeping moisture. Rounded shape should be safe for kids to play and dynamics mushroom positioning should create playful environment for people to gather.

Competition of “Pamar” Italian furniture handle manufacturer. Competition theme was to design a decorative furniture accessory – handle, and deliver fresh concept and style.

Inspired by trendy wrist watches and motorcycle parts I intended to deliver industrial looking style. Basically you take a part from a machinery and fix it instead of kitchen or living-room furniture handle to create tough, trustworthy and mechanical aesthetics. Visible fasteners provides both good aesthetics and function. Perhaps that why competition committee emphasized its simplicity and practical approach towards manufacture and awarded me the 2nd place prize for this solution.

Once, video gaming was against fitness, but now controller-free gaming device “Xbox Kinect” means full body play. Still, “Kinect” is expressly directed towards a home user and TV culture. Making a device portable means changes in gaming environment and product available for mobile society. This project is about making fun with everyday fitness.

Today there are 26 games that support the Kinect, but Microsoft recently stated that they will increase the number to 78 before the end of 2010. Kinect is fun and social for the whole family, it invites hole new groups of people, like parents and even elders

We decided to design a product, combination of Xbox, Kinect, projector, speakers, battery and WiFi.
The product has to be portable, small enough to carry with you without discomfort, it has to be easy to use and understandable.
